Our story

Built by a Homer mom, for Homer families.

Little Harvest Learning Center is founded on the belief that every child is uniquely created in the image of God and worthy of love, dignity, and respect. We are committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and Christ-centered environment where children feel valued, supported, and encouraged to grow.

Meet the founder

Hi, I’m Tara.

I’m a Homer mom of five and the founder of Little Harvest Learning Center. As both a mother and an educator, I understand how important it is to find a place where your child feels safe, loved, and encouraged to grow.

My passion for working with children comes from seeing firsthand how much they thrive when they are nurtured with patience, kindness, and consistency. At Little Harvest Learning Center, we strive to create a family-centered environment where every child is valued, supported, and given the opportunity to learn and explore at their own pace.

Our preschool is rooted in biblical values and guided by love, compassion, and respect. I believe teachers have the unique privilege of helping shape a child’s early years by modeling positive character, fostering curiosity, and building confidence. My hope is that every child who walks through our doors develops a strong foundation for learning, meaningful relationships, and a lifelong love of discovery.

We look forward to partnering with your family and being part of your child’s early learning journey.

I’d love to meet your family. Reach me anytime at by email.

Our mission

“Every child is a gift entrusted to us by God, wonderfully made, created with purpose, and worthy of being loved, nurtured, and encouraged as they grow.”

Our home

Rooted in Homer, Alaska.

Homer is a special place to raise children. There’s a richness here — in the landscape, the seasons, the tight-knit community — that shapes everything we do at Little Harvest. We’re not a franchise or a curriculum imported from elsewhere. We’re a school that grew from this place, and this community.

We’re proud to be a Connections-approved vendor, making it easy for homeschool families across the Kenai Peninsula to access our programs.

What we believe

The beliefs that shape every day.

01
Every child deserves to be truly known.
Not just managed or supervised — genuinely seen, understood, and responded to as an individual.
02
Play is serious learning.
When children play with intention and support, they are building the neural architecture that will underpin everything that follows.
03
Families are partners, not bystanders.
The best outcomes happen when school and home are in honest, warm communication. We keep that relationship central.
04
Small is powerful.
Low ratios aren’t a feature. They’re the whole point. You cannot truly know a child in a room of thirty.

Come meet us.

We’d love to answer your questions and tell you more about what Little Harvest looks like in practice.
